About demo
This document describes what the demo map layers.
The demo map consists of the following layers:
- World borders. The world borders data comes from a shapefile and is fully configured in ZCO. This data is freely obtainable from the www.mappinghacks.com site.
- European capitals. The data for the European capitals is stored within Plone and consists of pure ArcheTypes objects. The information related to the European countries is stored in content objects in European capitals. The spatial information (location) is stored in GeoArchetypesProxy objects, which refer to the content objects.
- NASA JPL Global mosaic. This layer shows external raster data using Web Map Server (WMS) layer from NASA's Jet Propulsions Laboratory and features a global mosaic of satellite imagery. See http://onearth.jpl.nasa.gov/ for more details.
- Mapserver users. This is Web Feature Service (WFS) layer which shows the locations of MapServer Plone site
users. The site allows users to add their location in their member
data, which is then published as a WFS. If you wish to have your
location shown on the map, you can join the MapServer site and add your
own location there. More info about the WFS server at Sean Gillies' blog.
